Fight for Life Impact, Fight for Life In The News
Our mission is to help deserving, but underserved youth develop the social and emotional qualities needed for success. We graciously request your support as we continue empowering youth to advocate for quality in life. Growing up in a vulnerable household, I know firsthand what adversity and hardships looks like; that is why I advocate by providing space for students to pause and process the experiences and circumstances of their lives and gain self-awareness and support from supportive educators and school admin.
Through our continued implementation of behavioral health software in the school environment with 9 school partners, we have been able to support educators with identifying and addressing the factors that stop students from coming to school and understand why students are not learning. In collaboration with Sankofa School of Success we have seen a decrease in out-of-school suspensions by 26% year over year. Students have grown in their ability to express their social and emotional needs. Last year we closed 3,584 concerning student cases related to school safety, family conflict, and peer relationships. Our proactive methods led to Fight for Life being awarded the Indiana Department of Child Services Prevention Service Provider of the year!
Though much of Indy knows about “my interception” of Tom Brady to help send the Colts to the Super Bowl 18 years ago, my hope is for even more to know me for Fight for Life’s efforts to intercept barriers to student success, these are “Winning Moments” that our team has been producing for the past 18 years. 2024 was a year of advancement toward a vision I established after we won Super Bowl XLI 18 years ago. I’ve never stopped working to positively influence the community of Indianapolis by investing in students, families, and educators.
