Football Legend Marlin Jackson Fights School Absenteeism With Mentorship

July 8, 2025

“This is like a dream come true!”

That’s what a kid said on a field trip to the movie theater organized by the Fight for Life Foundation. The CEO and founder of this organization said moments like this inspire him.

On the football field, Marlin Jackson was a game changer, picking off Tom Brady at the end of an AFC Championship game to send the Colts to Super Bowl XLI in 2007. Off the field, he’s a leader and CEO of an organization that helps kids like he was.

Growing up in Ohio and Pennsylvania, Jackson had inconsistent living situations, moving from home to home, living with relatives and coaches, but he overcame that to become an NFL football player.

Jackson retired after playing five seasons with the Indianapolis Colts, then signed with the Philadelphia Eagles, but injuries cut his career short. From his playing years in the NFL, Jackson had a vision for his program, the Fight For Life Foundation. It focuses on helping youth develop social and emotional qualities through partnerships with schools.

This foundation partners with nine K-8 schools, all located in Indianapolis, including Sankofa School of Success, Charles Warren Fairbanks 105, Frederick Douglass School 19.
