August Building Dreams Engagement Report Narrative
August marked a strong start to the school year across current Building Dreams sites, with schools actively using the platform to reinforce positive behavior, strengthen school culture, support social-emotional development, and identify students who may need additional support.
Across participating sites, educators documented 19,837 First Downs, representing nearly 20,000 instances in which students were recognized for demonstrating behaviors aligned with their schools’ core values. This level of positive recognition reflects meaningful educator engagement with Building Dreams and establishes a strong foundation for creating school environments where positive choices are consistently noticed and reinforced.
Students and educators also recorded 2,097 Extra Points, recognizing moments when students went above and beyond expectations. Together, First Downs and Extra Points resulted in 21,934 documented positive-behavior recognitions during August, demonstrating that schools are using Building Dreams not only to track engagement, but also to intentionally celebrate the behaviors that contribute to a positive classroom and school culture.
Building Dreams’ social-emotional tools were also actively utilized. Students completed 1,725 Check-Ins, providing opportunities to identify their moods and stress levels and giving school teams greater visibility into student well-being. An additional 135 Emotional Explorations show students moving beyond their initial check-ins to examine their emotions more deeply and identify healthy next steps. Students also engaged with 342 SEL Videos, extending their learning through content focused on emotional awareness, coping strategies, and self-regulation.
Importantly, engagement translated into responsive student support. During August, 151 support cases were closed through the Concerning Response Queue, representing situations in which student concerns were identified and school administrators or support staff were able to provide intervention and follow-through.
Overall, August demonstrates that Building Dreams is being used across sites as a school-culture and student-support system, connecting positive recognition, student voice, social-emotional skill building, and responsive intervention. With 24,287 documented interactions across the six reported measures, the first month provides a strong baseline for measuring growth in engagement throughout the school year.
As additional monthly data becomes available, August can serve as the baseline for tracking month-over-month growth, changes in the mix of engagement activities, and cumulative impact across Building Dreams sites.
