Typically, the first thing that comes to a person’s mind when they read the word “social” is people. These people can be of different races, cultures, genders and ethnicities. When we talk about social awareness, it mostly relates to understanding the emotions and actions of other people and learning how to behave in such situations.
To achieve a high emotional quotient or emotional intelligence, it is essential that you understand how social awareness factors in. You can not attain emotional intelligence without learning how to be socially aware of your surrounding and the people in it. Being socially aware enables you to understand and learn from people of different backgrounds. The possibility of ethnocentrism and stereotyping is majorly overcome once you learn that each individual is different and they come from different backgrounds. There are three core aspects of social awareness that a person needs to develop to achieve emotional intelligence.
